Kogi West Senatorial Aspirant, Hon. Abubakar Ibukun Muhammed a.k.a Bukky, has lamented that the party, All Progressive Congress(APC) they laboured for has been hijacked.
Bukky disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Lokoja,on Wednesday.
He lamented how he was denied Lokoja 1 state Constituency ticket in 2019, by the APC leadership, and forced to withdrew for there preferred candidate.
“In 2019, I Picked Lokoja 1 Constituency state House of Assembly nomination form, after the party leadership assured us of a level playing ground.
The date fixed for the APC primary election was shifted sensing that the delegates were for me, only to be asked to steps down for an annoited candidate, after I spent millions of naira, it was disheartening and undemocratic .
On the rumour that he may actualize his senatorial aspiration through another political party, Bukky said; Yes, nobody would like to undertake on a fruitless ventures.
With the current undemocratic happening in APC, it’ll be a risk, waste of time and resources to declare under the platform of APC, because the leadership have an annoited candidate.
We’ll soon unveil the political party under which we’ll actualize our dream” Bukky said
When asked On how he’ll face the ruling party,the Senatorial hopeful said; when in 2003, former Governor Ibrahim Idris signified his intentions to contest for Kogi Governorship seat, nobody gave him chance, as power belongs to God, Gov. Idris emerged victorious.
It’s the people of Kogi west that would decide who would be their senator not APC and we are optimistic that I’ll win inshaAllah”
He described Senator Tunde Ogbeha as credible leader who kept hope alive in Kogi west Senatorial district by serving two term of 8 years.
“16years after, the Okun area still want hold onto the Senatorial seat. It’s Lokoja / Kogi federal constituency’s turn to produce the next senator. No Kogi west Senatorial candidate ever emerge without the votes of Lokoja and Kogi local governments areas,yet our people prefers to support outsiders.
They prefer to vote for a man who would buy a car of ₦1000million, show those that elected him and whenever they challenge his extravagant,he’ll tell them that’s his ways of life “
He maitained further that politics is about provision of dividends of democracy, it’s not about promises.
“I also needed to make a statement that you don’t have to be in an elected office holder to serve your people. You can be out of the office and still be of great service. Some of the activities, particularly our philanthropic gestures, aimed to cater for the wellbeing of our people,is not for political gains, we’ll do more if given the mandate to serve as senator representing Kogi west senatorial district” Bukky promise.
He called on the people of Kogi west senatorial district on the need to vote for a credible and trustworthy candidate, not those that used them to enrich themselves.
“With electoral act,we are optimistic that our votes would count. Political party is a platform and 2023 election wouldn’t be about political party one’s belong , it’ll be base on credibility,trusts and your contributions to the society” he said
