A one time House of Representatives Aspirants under the platform of PDP, and former Chieftain of APC, Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi Usman,a.k.a Angulu Hukuma,
has been elected the new Kogi state chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) at a congress held in Lokoja on Monday.
Announcing the results, Chairman electoral committee for Kogi state congress of NNPP,Hon. Abdulmalik Sulaiman,Said the committee was fair based on the congress adoption of consensus method.
He said his committee was fair and transparent in the conduct of the congress.
“After the transparent and open electoral process of the Kogi State NNPP State Congress, I hereby announce the following : Hon. Ahmad Abdallahi Usman,a.k.a Angulu Hukuma, (Chairman)Hon. Abubakar Otaru Ogidi,(Vice Chairman) Sulaiman Abubakar, (Secretary) while Hon. Muhammed Dan Kano Musa Emerged as the (state Public Relation officer)
Others includes: Solomon Joseph(Youth leader) Mrs Lami Dan Musa (woman leader) and Aliyu Zuberu , (Treasurer)
Also elected are, Pastor Emmanuel Itodo,Zonal) Chairman) Eastern senatorial district,Abdullahi Otaru,(Central)and Chief Obasajo Kehide Olarewaju (Western senatorial)among others.
In his acceptance speech,Usman thanked all the delegates to the congress for their support and the peaceful manners they conducted themselves during the Congress.
Usman, who said that he considered the call for service as a privilege, promised to work with leaders, members of the state executives and party faithfuls to reposition the party in the state in order to win elections come 2023.
According to him,”as you all know, I was a member of PDP,I later joined APC,the two major political parties are the same. We want to appeal to kogi people to come and join NNPP so that together we can salvage our state ” Usman said.
He called on the new executives to work hard in a way and manner to ensure that the NNPP remain United in a way and in a manner to ensure that the NNPP come 2023 merge victorious in all elections in Kogi state.
In an interview with journalists ,leader of the party in the state and one-time governorship candidate in 2019 governorship election, Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi,a.k.a Elephant ,thanked the delegates and representative of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and congratulated the newly elected officials of the party.
Abdullah,who contested the 2014 APC governorship primaries, noted that the ruling party in the state have failed the electorate,hence the need for Kogites to come out and embrace NNPP which he said is out to effect a genuine change.
” NNPP is a party that belongs to Nigerians with the aims of bringing genuine and positive charge in economy, employment and social justice. I want to call of Nigerians to join NNPP so that come 2023 we’ll have Nigeria of our dream” he said.
The congress was attended by delegates from 21 local governments of the state and representative of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
