•••As maintenance work would be completed today

The ongoing maintenance work at the Greater Lokoja Water Works would be completed today, while test running of the facilities would commence on Tuesday and end through this week.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Water Resources,Hon. (Dr.) Abdulmumin Danga,while taking a team of Journalists round the ongoing maintenance works at the Greater Lokoja Water works on Monday.
Danga thanked residents of Lokoja Metropolis for there patience, perseverance and understanding while the maintenance lasted.
He ansured residents that normal water supply would soon be restore as soon as test running of the facilities is completed,which according to him would last this week.
The Commissioner regretted the hardship faced by the people due to perenial water supply, which he said it was not intentional.
He lamented that since the construction of the Greater Lokoja Water works,no maintenance works had never been carried out even with the damages and wastage.
He further explained that the maintenance work became very necessary as it was making the state loose a greater percentage of treated water before it get to the end user and the designated tanks.
The commissioner added that the lickage was equally threatening the existing building of the Greater Water works, thanked the residents for their understanding as difficult as it was.
Hon. Danga disclosed that the only time the maintenance work could have been achieved was in this period of the dry season as the areas affected is a marshy area, making it difficult to address if the rains set in.
The Commissioner expressed happiness that a permanent solution has however been achieved fixing the repairs, assured that after the test run after the work today, hopefully the people will enjoy unhindered flow of water.
The Commissioner equally assured that aside from the metropolis, efforts are ongoing to see how the water can be reticulated to Zanga and Felele areas of Lokoja, said that the efforts is in the pipeline.
He equally disclosed that the ongoing effort for the people of Central Senatorial District to enjoy potable water is experiencing appreciable progress, said the work on the Okene Water Works is experiencing an appreciable progress.
He lamented that as a child growing up, could recall with nostalgic feelings that he last experience water flow around 1986, but appreciated the efforts of Gov. Yahaya Bello to once again make the Water Project that would feed the Central Senatorial District a going concern.
Hon. Danga described the love of Gov. Bello to providing potable water to the people of the State as unprecedented, said his constant intervention in water schemes across the state remains commendable.
