Passenger bus bursts into flames in Lokoja

It was a lucky day for thirteen persons who cheated death by the whiskers when an 18 seater bus they were traveling in caught fire on motion in the Nataco area of the ever busy Lokoja /Abuja expressway, Kogi State on Thursday.

The bus which is believed to be heading to the Northern part of the country suddenly burst into flames around 4pm in the Kogi state capital.

According to eye witnesses account, some passengers who narrowly escaped with various degrees of burns were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja.

The cause of the fire could not be readily ascertained.

However, officers of the Federal Roads Safety Corps, Nigeria Police and volunteers were seen working hard to save the lives of those trapped in the inferno.

When contacted, the police Public Relations officer Sup. William Aya, promise to contact the officer in charge of the jurisdiction and call back, but has not responded as at the time of filling report.
