The Grand Khalifa of Tijjaniyya, Sheik Muhammad Mahi Ibrahim Nyass, has disowned an advertorial regretting his inability to honour Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s invitation to attend Zikir Festival organised by the state government.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that a paid advertorial was published in page 33 of Daily Trust of Tuesday – the 1st of February, 2021, where the Sheikh was said to have apologised to Governor Ganduje over his absence during the religious event.

But a statement on Wednesday by Sheikh Tijjani Sheikh Sani Auwal, the spokesman for the Tijjaniyya leader said the letter didn’t emanate from Sheikh Mahi Nyass and the Sheikh did not give authority to anyone to write to Mr Ganduje on the issue.

“The published letter was on a forged letterhead with no date and no reference number. Also, the signature of the Sheikh was forged, that’s not how he appends his signature.

“The Sheikh wishes to call on all Tijjaniya followers to remain peaceful and united. He said they are expected to always adhere strictly to the teachings of the Prophet and also emulate what Sheikh Ahmadu Tijjani and Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass have preached during their life time,” the statement noted.

Mr Nyass also advised Tijjaniya followers to be united in Nigeria and around the world and not allow the devil to come in between them.
