Hijirah: Governor Bello felicitates with Muslims, calls for unity, tolerance in Kogi state

Kogi state Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello,has felicitated with Muslim Ummah as they join the rest of the Islamic World in marking the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1443 AH.

The Governor’s message was contained in a remarks delivered by Alhaji Abdulmumin Okara at this years commeration of 1443 Hijirah in Lokoja on Saturday.
 
He said it was appropriate to use the occasion to thank the Almighty Allah for the privilege He mercifully granted us to witness the New year.

“As we begin the New Year, I enjoin us all not to relent in living accordance with the injunctions of our Faith and in our prayers for peace in our country and the world over.

“We should continue to fervently seek the intervention of Allah in our affairs as we seek end to the challenges facing our country” the Governor said.

Earlier in his welcome address, Chairman kogi State Council of Ulama’u,Sheikh Salman Adam , commended Governor Bello for his dispositions to religion harmony and peaceful co-existance among the two major religions in the state.

“Council applauded His Exellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello the Executive Governor of Kogi state for
his favourable consideration and disposition towards the two major religions and their adherents in the state.

“The council shall continue to synergize and partner with the government and all other stakeholders in respect of unity, security and peacefül co-exištence in Kogi State. The constant and singular focus of the council is service to Allah and humanity” Adam said

Chairman of the occasion and senator representing Kogi East,Senator Jibril Isah Echocho, admonished the teeming Muslim population and commended them for the roles they have played in sustaining the peace, unity and development of the state and the nation despite the numerous challenges confronting them

He urged Muslim faithful and other Nigerians, to embrace unity, tolerance and peaceful co- existence among one another for the growth and development of Nigeria. 

Highlights of the occasion includes: commissioning of Reconstructed Kogi state Council of Ulama’u ,Secretariat by Governor Bello ,lecture and launching of 1443 AH calendar.

The occasion was witnessed by HRM the Ohimege Igu of Igu kingdom,Alhaji Abdulrasaq Isah Koto, Grand Khadi of Kogi state, Hon. justice Aruwa, justice Nurudeen Yusuf Abdallah among many.
