The Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission has given condition for the transmission of results through electronic means.
The position of the panel was contained in its report, which was submitted on Wednesday during plenary.
The report has been scheduled to be considered at Thursday’s plenary.
It stated that INEC may transmit results of elections by electronic means where and when practicable.
The section reads: “52(1) Voting at an election under this Bill shall be by open secret ballot.
“52(2) Voting at an election under this Bill shall be in accordance with the procedure determined by the Commission, which may include electronic voting.
“52(3) The Commission may transmit results of elections by electronic means where and when practicable.”
The amendment will be passed before the lawmakers embark on their annual recess.
