A non Political group, Kogi West Agenda (KGWA), has consented to the agitations that power should move to Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2023 Governorship Election.
The called was made by the chairman of the group, Malam Mahmoud Inuwa Muhammad,during a press conference in Lokoja on Thursday.
He said Kogi West Agenda, as the mouth piece of seven local government areas that constituted the western Senatorial district, believed that it’s time for the area to govern the state.
Mohammad further explained that the group represent the interest and aspirations of the people of Kogi West Senatorial district with seven local government areas ,three Senatorial constituencies,eighty five electoral wards with over eight hundred polling units.
“It is to be noted that since the inception of Democratic rule in1999, Kogi West had not produce Govenor of the state. Kogi East had it for 16years and Kogi central is having it now for 8 years.
Also, Kogi West had been in the forefront of stabilising the polity of the state and full of potentials capable of managing the abundant opportunities available in the state.
Let us emulate our sister states in the North Central region and other states in other geo- Political zone, where power is rotated among the three senatorial
districts” he said
The chairman revealed that before the 2019 Governorship Election, when the okun people in Kogi West paid a courtesy visit to govemor Bello, in which they demanded the support of the governor after his tenure to support the area to produce the next governor in 2023.
“Interestingly the then Chief of staff,Mr Edward Onoja, now Deputy Governor who represented the Governor, said the result of the 2019 Governorship Election will determine the zone that will produce the next governor in 2023.
At the end of the 2019 election,the result showed clearly Kogi West voted APC,it’s now time for the party and other stakeholders to compensate the people of Kogi West for their loyalty” he explained
He noted that the called by governor Bello’s recent interview with Channels Television, wherehe called on his collegues to ensure that there’s justice fairness and equity,is a pointer to other senatorial districts to support the agitations of the people of Kogi West for equity, fairness and peace.
He assured Governor Bello of kogi West Senatorial district unalloyed support for his 2023 presidential ambition.
“Finaly, it is our desire that the principle behind “EBIGO” as a symbol of unity which is part of the cardinal goals and objective of the NEW DIRECTION agenda of the present administration will come to play as we call on our brothers and sisters in Kogi East and Central to support this unity movement” the chairman said
The press conference was attended by Representatives across the seven Local Government areas that constituted the senatorial district.
