Police in Kano defuse Explosive Device planted in bush

Police in Kano said they have successfully defused Improvised Explosive Device planted in a bush at Aujirawa village, Gezawa local government area.

The police spokesperson in Kano Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa announced this in a statement issued on Friday evening.

Earlier on the day, a resident of the area had raised an alarm over an electronic device suspected to be ‘Improvised Explosive Device.’

Kiyawa said upon receiving the complain the commissioner of police Sama’ila Dikko mobilized team of Explosive Ordinance Disposal to move to the scene.

“The team immediately swung in to action, after cordoning the area, an Improvised Explosive Device was discovered.

“The Explosive Device was detonated successfully with the use of Technical Equipment. Investigation has commenced.

“We therefore, call on the good people of the state that, whenever they see any suspicious object, they should not go near it, and immediately inform the Police.

“People should also report any suspicious movement or person to the nearest Police formation,” Mr Kiyawa appealed
