Kano bans Abduljabar from preaching, shuts seminaries

Kano State government has debarred an Islamic cleric, Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara from preaching in the state for his mode of teachings considered too incendiary.

Mr Kabara came into the limelight due to his controversial interpretation of some prophetic sayings ‘hadith’ to the extent of questioning their authenticity and denouncing some prophet’s companions.

Addressing Newsmen on Tuesday in Kano, the state commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, announced the ban.

He said the decision was part of the state Executive Council’s resolutions at its weekly meeting held at the Africa House, Government House.

He also announced that all seminaries run by the clergyman would be shut down pending investigation by security agencies.
