Arising from there commitment to Girls Child’s Education,a non governmental Organization,Danko Development Forum( DDF) on Sunday 27, December 2020 commissioned World class Science Laboratories in Girls Secondary school Sarkin Noma .
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony,Chairman of the Forum,Alhaji Bama Mundi described education as the bedrock of national development and extolled the members of DDF for facilitating the projects
He said the forum undertook the projects in their efforts to give back to the community, particularly on science and technology what the community impacted in them.
He appealed to Lokoja indegines at home and in the diaporah to join the Forum by contributing their quota, particularly in the area of Education, Heath, science and technology.
” I want to use this opportunity to call on Lokoja sons and daughters at home and in disporah to join the forum as our doors are wide open as long as moving Lokoja to highest pedestal of development is concern” mundi said
In his own remarks, member Representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency,Hon. Shaba Ibrahim commended Danko Development forum for there contributions to the development of science education in the area.
The lawmaker added , ”Danko Development Forum’s of type are rare in many Communities . They keeps to their words and fulfils all the promises made despite the fact that we did not vote for them. The forum still goes on to impact positively on the community”
He further declared that with the spirited efforts of DDF, the Forum had contributed immensely to the delivery of quality education and medical health care through the construction of health centers across Lokoja,he announced the award of scholarship to 62 final year students.
The Principal of Girls Secondary School,Sarkin Noma, Mrs Eseyi Margaret Ibiyeni in her speech thanked the Forum for their commitment to the expansion of basic education in the school.
Mrs Ibiyeni said, “ with the commissioning of a model science Laboratories today, lack of science equipment is now a thing of the past.”
She said the staff and students of the school remain grateful to members of Danko Development forum for their efforts and sacrifices to see that the school has standard science laboratories.
Head Girl of the school,miss Deola Stella, who was overwhelmed with the projects said Studying science subjects in G.G.S.S Sarkin-noma over the year has been tough, most especially that Science teachers would have to go through difficulty in teaching practical while the students would have to learn some practical topics in abstract.
“Because of indadequate or lack of standard and science equipped laboratory However, the intervention of Danko Development Forum in
rehabilitating a block of classroom and an office into equipped modern laboratories has brought ease to both teachers and students in teaching and learning science subjects in G.G.S.S Sarkin-noma” she stated.
She commended the Forum for giving hope to the children of common man in the society, stressing that the efforts the forum geared towards educational needs of less priviledge children will continue to remain evergreen in “our memory and posterity will continue pray for you in this regard,” she said .
Highlights of the events include: condolance visit to the Maigari of Lokoja,His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi 111, over the death of Galadima of Lokoja,Dr Godwin Thomas Ndaman Ajakpo.
This year event was attended by The Daman of Lokoja,Alhaji Sulaiman Baba,Alhaji Bala Haruna, Engineer Danladi Yahaya Farouk DLG Lokoja Local Goverment and Salama of Muye,Rtd Col Ndamadu Ndalugi.
Others are,the Hakimi of Sarkin Noma, reps of Lokoja Indigenous People’s Union and mayaki of Lokoja, Alhaji Ali Lawal, Hon Shiru Lawal,Hon. BIN-EBIYA Tijjani Shehu,Students of the school,staff among many.
