The Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Muhammed Dan’Asebe Muhammed, on Tuesday witnessed the swearing in of the 10 councillors newly elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local council elections held on Saturday, December 12.
The swearing-in and oaths of allegiance were administered by the council Clark, Muhammed Alfa.
The event, which took place at the local government’s legislative hall, in Lokoja, was attended by traditional rulers, local government management team; local and wards leaders of the APC as well as other stakeholders.
In his introductory speech, the council DLG, Engr Danladi Yahaya Farouk, congratulated the 10 councillors for their victory in the just concluded LG election.
Farouk, who commended Governor Yahaya Bello for given women the opportunity to serve called on the councillors to cooperate with the council chairman to move Lokoja LGA forward.

The executive chairman in his speech lauded Governor Yahaya Bello for ensuring peaceful conduct of the elections.
“Honourable councilors, as from now, you have assumed the legislative arm 0f Lokoja LGA. However, in my capacity as the Executive Chairman of the council and by implication the head of the Executive arm of the council. I make bold to assure you of my readiness toto have a cordial working relationship with you.
“I charge you all to make yourselves available to your people and always remember the Gov. Yahaya Bello-led administration’s policy thrust of giving governance back to the people at the grassroots. You must identify with the culture of good governance already exemplified by Mr. Governor”

“Furthermore, I would like to use this medium to appeal to you that as you convene to elect principal officers among yourselves, you should eschew bitterness, exhibit a high sense of maturity and decorum and follow democratic processes.
“It is no gain saying the fact that the challenges before us are enormous, but with God on our side, we shall succeed,’ the added.
He also used the opportunity to shower praises on leadership of the party for their fatherly and leadership roles in the council.
The councillor representing Ward ‘A’, Hon Bala Blessing Ogwu, who spoke on behalf of the councillors said, “On behalf of the just sworn-in councillors, I must thank our performing governor Yahaya Bello for enthroning people’s government at the grassroots. Also, our indebted gratitude goes to our party leaders for their support, and to our very agile, accessible and hospitable party chairman, Alhaji Maikudi Bature.

The councillors include; Hon. Bala Blessing Ogwu, Salihu Sulaiman Bala, Adam Rukayat Lami, Bashir Salihu, Abdul Samad Umar, Muhammed Y. Galadima, Muhammed Muhammed, Sulaiman Abubakar Tanimu, Adamu Adoga Yusuf and Saratu Ali.
