Protest: Kogi CP meets with Coalition Of Northern Youth Group

Kogi state Commissioner of police,Mr. Ede Ayuba Ekpeji has commended the Coalition of Northern Youth Group for conducting themselves in a orderly manner during the peaceful demonstration

Ekpeji made the commendations when he received members of the group at Police headquarters in Lokoja on Friday.

The commissioner who was represented by Deputy Commissioner of police,Kule Olusolukan said the CP appreciate the group’s efforts in campaigning for police force reform.

“We want to commend you for conducting yourselves peacefully , Kogi state police command under CP. Mr. Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, appreciate your efforts, especially by drawing the attention of government on the need to reform the Nigeria police force .

Today,with the efforts of Nigeria police, Kogi state command, Lokoja- Okene road is saver,this was achieved through effective policing and the corporation of the people, especially the youths” he said

He assured the group that the their message you’ll be deliver to the commissioner and ensure that action is taken urgently particularly,in the area of security, kinapping and rape.

He urged the group not to allow the protest to be hijacked by irresponsible elements to cause mayhem.

Earlier, the North Central coordinator of the group, Comrade Muhammed Nnaji said that the protest was to galvanise government to do more in tackling security challenges not only in Kogi state but across the country, particularly Northern states.

According to him, the recurring security challenges has placed the federal government and a section of the northern States on the wrong side of public.

He therefore advised government to recognize the urgency of the moment and take appropriate measures to restore public confidence by providing the Nigeria police with modern equipments, better renumeration to tackle the insecurity that’s rampaging the northern region.

Nnaji said the coalition wants to see immediate and comprehensive improvement of security in Nigeria, particularly northern Nigeria.

In his own remarks, coordinator of the Coalition in Kogi state,Comrade Yakubu Idris thanked the commissioner for grating the group audience and assured him of the group corporation.

The Peaceful Protest which entered it second day, begin from Ganaja junction and terminated at the police headquarters.
