APPRECIATION/ISSUES ARISING

Reference to the pending court case challenging the appointment/installation of Alhaji Mohammed Ireyi Bello, as the Ohi of Adavi, over which the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government/Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Muhammed Abdulsalami Deedat initiated a peace seeking/out Court resolution of the matter at a meeting held in the Commissioner’s office on 13th October, 2020.

I, Alhaji Sherif Hamzat, National President, Otumi Descendant Association, make the following commendation, observation and clarification;

First and foremost, I sincerely appreciate/commend the move by the honorable commissioner towards finding an amicable/peaceful resolution of the matter which to us, is more of a brotherly differences, since the appointed Ohi (from Agoh) and the complainants/appellants (from Otumi/Ajoko) all hail from UKA Clan.

However, let me quickly observe that the said meeting of 13th October, 2020 was not properly arranged/constituted, as the complainants/appellants in the matter were not adequately represented at the meeting, while my humble self who attended by chance was not properly briefed on the Agenda of the meeting of the two parties in contention.

Thus, requiring the meeting to adjourned to reconvene on 15th October, 2020, in order to give room for proper representation on the side of the appellants.

At this juncture, I wish it noted the present condition of the traditional head of Otumi, the Asema of UKA, H.R.H, Mallam Nasiru Momoh, who is presently being detained over the recent politically motivated crisis in Adavi.

By tradition, the Asema need to be briefed of the new move for him to nominate appropriate people from the complainants (Otumi sub-clan) to attend the re-sheduled meeting.

Finally, let me seize this opportunity to assure all and sundry that the complainants/appellants on the above matter will always be law abiding and pursue the course of peace in Adavi and Ebiraland in general
