The state Commissioner for water resources, Engineer Muhammad Danladi Yahaya Farouk, on Wednesday inaugurate Grassroots Engagement Committee On Voters and Mobilization Committee,with Hon.Chief Emmanuel Olaniya Lonis as Chairman while Muhammad Umar Babaloko will serve as Secretary.
Speaking during the event,the Commissioner explained that the exicise follow a directives by Governor Ahmed Ododo in which he directed all political office holders, Appointees to return to their various Local Government areas to led the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise .
He added that the move is part of broader efforts to deepen democracy and guarantee creditable elections by enhancing voter turnout.
The Commissioner charged members of the committee to justify the confidence .
Earlier his opening remarks Lokoja Local Government APC Chairman, Hon. Maikudi Bature explained that the committee was established by the state government to sensitize citizens on the importance of registering and ensuring that every eligible voters register for the 2027 election.
He warned that,the exicise is not meant for campaign as the ban on electioneering campaign is still in force.
“You’re selected to mobilize our people,not to campaign for any aspirants because the ban on electioneering campaign is still in force.” he warned.

“The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to inform all appointed political office holders to return to their
respective Local Government Areas (LGAs) effective Monday, September 1, 2025,
until further notice.
This is to lead the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) mobilisation efforts within their respective LGAs. You are therefore, mandated to carry out your official duties from your LGAs.
The Government is committed to strengthening grassroots engagement; hence, all appointed political holders must be present and be active among the people. The practice of governance from only the State Capital must give way to true
community-based leadership. We must take governance to the grassroots”
The event was graced by Lokoja Local government Chairman,Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, Councilors, political Appointees .
Others includes, political office holders,party chieftains and many more.
Seven man committee were appointed across the 10 wards of Lokoja Local Government area.
