Nigerian lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, has launched a scathing critique of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing him as the “poster boy of the Nigerian ruining class.”
In a strongly worded post shared via X, Farotimi accused the former Rivers State governor of embodying what he termed the most damaging traits of Nigeria’s political elite.
“Nyesom Wike: poster boy of the Nigerian ruining class. Cacophonous, parasitic, narcissistic, Lilliputian, gluttonous, myopic, and completely untouched by any desire for immortality,” Farotimi wrote, ending his remarks with the Nigerian flag emoji and a vomiting face.
Farotimi, a well-known advocate for good governance and one of the vocal critics of the current political order, did not mince words in his assessment of Wike, whom he views as a symbol of what ails Nigeria’s political leadership.
The post, which has since attracted wide attention online, has sparked debates across social media platforms, with many users echoing Farotimi’s sentiments while others condemned his choice of language.
Farotimi also warned that the success of the coalition ahead of the 2027 elections without first implementing meaningful electoral reforms is a waste of effort. He questioned the credibility of INEC under the current administration and called any reform-less coalition “brainless.”
He stressed that without reforms to ensure free and fair elections, opposition efforts are bound to fail. His comments came after the opposition coalition adopted the ADC as its official party, with key figures like Atiku Abubakar, Obi, and David Mark on board.
There has been no official response from Wike or his media team regarding Farotimi’s remarks at the time of filing this report.
