An appeal has been made to Muslims in Lokoja and beyond to respect and obey the constituted authorities at the Federal, State, and Local Government levels.
His Royal Highness, Alh. Ibrahim Gambo Kabir, Maikarfi 1V, The Maigari of Lokoja and Chairman, Lokoja Traditional Council, made the appeal at occasion of Hawan Bariki,Parade festival held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja.
The Traditional Ruler said the stability, peace, and progress of any community can only be achieved when the people work together under a leadership that seeks the collective well-being of the people.
The Maigari used the occasion to commend the Kogi State Government for its relentless effort in ensuring the prompt payment of workers’ salaries, on-going construction of a standard World Bank funded Hospital in Lokoja and a Clinic in Felele.
The Traditional Ruler said it will increase the opportunity for people to access good quality Medical services, at affordable costs, within a reasonable time frame, urge the administration of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo to continue its good work in serving thé people diligently.
While pointing out that he remains committed to the peace, unity, and progress of the people of Lokoja, said his modest efforts in the past one year of his reign has been on sustaining the prevailing peace in Lokoja through dialogue, mediation, community engagement, settling family and communal disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms.
The Maigari promised to continue to foster harmony amongst the people, noting that part of his modest achievements includes; the distribution of poverty alleviation palliatives to the poor and vulnerable in the community towards cushioning the effects of the global economic hardship.
The Maigari Of Lokoja assured his people that he will continue to work tirelessly to support the less privileged and promote social harmony in his domain.
Furthermore, he urge youths to shun idleness, drug abuse, violent behaviors, and criminal activities, advising them to engage in productive ventures, seek education, skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development.
The festival also witnessed the traditional greetings from all ruling home and associations in Lokoja local Government area and the chief lmam, Sheikh Aminu Shaban offered prayers for prosperity across the 10 wards of the local government area and kogi state.
Among the prominent figures at this year’s festival was the mayaki of Lokoja, Alhaji Ali Lawal, Sarkin Sudan of Lokoja, DPC Mohamed Sanusi, Business tycoon, Zakari Abubakar Ola, Bukky Ola, all Hakimi’s and ward heads in Lokoja local Government area,other traditional rulers and notable Lokoja leaders.
This year’s parade festival was attended by all the recently newly members of Lokoja traditional title holders council who were conferred with traditional titles by the Maigari.
