The Executive Chairman of Lokoja local government council, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, has called on parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children.
Adamu made the call on Sunday at the naming ceremony of the daughter of the Sarkin Samari of Kakanda kingdom, Abdulrahman Yusuf Wali held at Gimba Mosque in Kabawa, Lokoja.
The local government chairman said that children were special gifts from God and should be brought up in a godly manner as such children would contribute positively to the development of the society.
Adamu, who was represented by his Secretary, Abubakar Muhammed, prayed for God’s protection, blessings and good health for the new born and the entire family.
The Sarkin Samari of Kakanda kingdom, Abdulrahman Yusuf Wai named his daughter, Ramatu, after his grand mother.
Earlier, Alhaji Ndana Mukadami, the Chief Imam of Gimba Mosque in Kabawa, Lokoja, who presided over the naming prayers, urged parents to ensure proper training of their children in a godly way.
He equally prayed for leaders and for the unity, peace, progress and development of the state and Nigeria.
Also speaking, Kogi State for Water Resources Engr. Yahaya Faruq Danladi, congratulated the Sarkin Samari saying the arrival of a new baby was a blessing from God.
The Commissioner prayed that God should give the Sarkin Samari the wisdom and strength to train the child.
Responding, Abdulrahman Yusuf, appreciated all the guests at the occasion.
He prayed for journey mercy for all the dignitaries and other well-wishers to their various destinations.
Dignitaries that attended the naming ceremony included Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources Engr Yahaya Faruq Danladi, Traditional title holders, top politicians and Islamic Clerics.
