Gov Okpebholo Appoints Arise News Anchor Sulaiman Aledeh MD of Edo Broadcasting Service

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has named renowned journalist and media consultant Sulaiman Aledeh as the new Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, underscores the governor’s commitment to revitalizing the state’s media landscape.

Announcing the decision, Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, stated: “Mr. Sulaiman Aledeh’s appointment reflects Governor Okpebholo’s vision to transform EBS into a world-class broadcasting entity, leveraging his extensive experience in the global media space.”

Aledeh, an alumnus of the University of Benin with a degree in Philosophy, boasts over 20 years of experience in broadcast journalism. His illustrious career has spanned radio and television, with significant stints at international networks such as Al Jazeera, SABC, and GB News UK.

Reflecting on his journey, Aledeh said: “I began my media career at EBS while still a student at UNIBEN, so this appointment feels like coming full circle. I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of this iconic institution.”

During his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ebonyi State, Aledeh made history as the first corps member permitted to read the station’s major news bulletin. He later joined the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, where he pioneered influential programs that shaped national discourse.

Aledeh’s television career saw him anchoring flagship programs on TVC and Channels Television, where he covered major events like the 2011 and 2015 general elections.

As Assistant General Manager and Head of Media and Communications at Eko Disco, he demonstrated expertise in strategic communication and corporate leadership.

A Fellow of the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and an Associate of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, Aledeh also holds a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies from the University of Lagos.

Expressing confidence in the appointment, Itua added: “With his wealth of experience, Aledeh will bring a new era of innovation and professionalism to EBS, enhancing its role as a leading voice for Edo State.”

Aledeh currently anchors news programs at Arise News and contributes to Classic FM, blending global insights with local narratives.
