The Chairman of the Lokoja local government Area of kogi State, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu has inaugurated the 10 newly elected councilors of the legislative arm of the council, charging them to place the community above self-interest.
Speaking during the inauguration exercise at the council Chamber, Lokoja,on Thursday . Comrade Adamu expressed delight, saying the event marks a significant day in their journey towards development and greatness.
He charged the councilors to lead with the utmost sense of transparency, accountability, probity, and response to the needs of the people of Lokoja local government area.
While harping on the need for the newly elected councilors to work in synergy with him to actualize the aim and objectives of governor ododo’s development mantras, he enjoined them to prioritize inclusiveness, fairness, and equity for the people.
Speaking further, adamu charged the elected councilors to be ambassadors of love, peace, and unity and also to work in harmony with their various constituents to ensure that they represent the people’s interests with integrity and compassion.
Comrade adamu appreciated the Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for promoting Gender equality in kohi state by Empowering kogi women in politics, which, according to him, has balanced the agenda gab in the state.
In his own remarks,speaker of Kogi state House of assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf charged the newly inaugurated councillors on the need to put the interest of the council ahead of their personal own.
The lawmaker enjoined them not to allow outsiders and those without the best interest of the council to deceive them into unnecessary squabble, stressing that their interest in making bylaws for the council should be the development of Lokoja Local Government Area in general.
In their respective remarks, Hon Ali Adamu, who emerged as the councillor of ward D , thanked the Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, leaders of APC in the area,under the leadership of commissioner for water Resources, Engineer Muhammad Danladi Yahaya Farouk and engineer Sagir Abdulsalam, permanent Secretary, ministry of Agriculture for believing in his ability to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the area.
He promised to give the chairman and the Vice chairman, all the necessary support for the betterment of the people of Lokoja local government.
Among the dignitaries who graced the ceremony were Speaker Kogi state House of assembly Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, former house of reps member representing Lokoja/ Kogi federal Constituency,Hon. Haruna Isah.
The ceremony also attracted leaders of various communities in the local government, including traditional rulers, party leaders, and council staff.
