It is with profound sadness, tonnes of countless heavy hearts and total submission to the will of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful that we witness the passing of a beloved friend, a cherished brother, an exceptional traditional title holder and a true embodiment of humility, humbleness, and commitment to a noble cause, Alhaji Tanko Adamu, Sarkin Makeran Lakwaja . His departure after a protracted illness has left an irreparable and irreplaceable bottomless void in our lives and our community that will forever ache with his absence.

Tanko Adamu (a.k.a Tanko Dagger ) is a name that resonates with grace and dignity. He was a man of exceptional character and unwavering faith. He lived his life as a shining example of humility, always putting others before himself and leading with a heart full of compassion. His commitment to serving others was evident in every facet of his life, from his professional (Kira/ Teaching ) endeavours to his roles as a brother, friend, husband, father, and an in-law.

Born at the ancient city of Lokoja, Kogi State, Tanko’s life journey was destined for treasured memories. From a young age, he exhibited a deep sense of devotion to his principles and his faith. His unyielding dedication to his religious beliefs was a driving force in shaping his life, and he radiated that devotion in all his interactions. Tanko Dagger was a religious person per excellence, a true soul who found solace and strength in his spirituality.

In the realm of professional(teaching )endeavours, Alhaji Tanko was a beacon of commitment and competence. His friends and colleagues remember him as a devout and hardworking teacher /individual who never shied away from taking on challenging tasks. His ability to bring people together since his appointment as head of Blacksmiths over twenty years ago and his foster collaboration was mesmerising. Tanko Dagger (as fondly called by his close confidents) has an unwavering commitment to his family and thus, remained an inspiration to all who had the privilege of associating with him.

Indeed, Sarkin Makeran’s greatness truly shone in his roles as a husband and a father. To his respected and devoted wife (Yagi- Mama) he was more than a partner; he was her rock, her confidant, and her unwavering support.

Their love was a testament to the beauty of companionship and partnership she displayed throughout the trials period undergone by her husband , May Allah in His infinity Mercies reward her, ameen.

The deceased’s
caring nature and genuine concern for his wife’s well-being were a source of comfort and strength that she will forever hold close to her heart.

As a father, Sarki was the epitome of compassion and altruism. He wasn’t just a father; he was a respected Traditional title holder, a mentor, a counsellor and a friend like no other. He leaves nobody in doubt that his devotion to Kira (Blacksmithing ) teaching and brilliant art works
were his pride and joy, and he dedicated himself to it until he meets His creator. His caring nature, patience, and unconditional love shaped the lives of other blacksmiths in countless profound ways, ensuring they had a solid foundation to build upon as they navigate life’s journey.

His impact extended far beyond his immediate family. He was a friend who touched the lives of countless individuals with his kind words, warm smiles, and genuine interest in their well-being. His presence had a way of making others feel valued, heard, and understood. The world truly felt like a better and a brighter place in his company.

It is particularly heart-wrenching that Alhaji Tanko Adamu’s passing comes at a time when his presence is needed more than ever. His unwavering support, his comforting words, and his disarming humility are things we find ourselves insatiably yearning for in these difficult times, when our cultural values orientation is diminishing to the lowest peaks . His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, especially among his Subjects,MAKERA who abandoned the profession. Our hearts ache with the knowledge that we can no longer enjoy his company or bask in the euphoria of his heart warming presence.

While Sarkin Makeran Lakwaja Adamu, may no longer walk among us, his legacy of love, humility, and devotion will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
