Lokoja residents Cry out over continuous power outage, call out AEDC

By Musa Tanimu Nasidi

Residents of Lokoja,the Kogi state capital,have lamented the current power experienced in Lokoja and environs.

Speaking on the development, some residents who spoke with THEANALYSTNG in an interview on Monday said the perennial power supply was affecting them in different ways, especially in their businesses, adding that their communities have been thrown into total darkness and could be prone to robbery attacks and kidnapping.

They, however, urged the federal government to look into the epileptic power supply and find a lasting solution to the issue.

Here are some of the comments gathered by THEANLYSTNG;

According to Aminah Haruna: this power outage made my business to slow because everyone wanted cold drinks and I don’t have any to sell, I won’t make profit if this continues.

He maintained further that for the first time Lokoja remains in darkness whole of day without information from the AEDC management, I was not able to achieve anything in my business because of this power outage.

Mrs Rukaya Abdul , ‘’ I sell blocks and supply to people who sell cold drinks too, but I was not able to make a penny throughout the weekdays because there was no light.”

Adebayo Gbega, ‘’I work in a cyber café,since the arrival of the new AEDC CBS, the outage is really affecting our business. With light, our customers have access to all our computers but with generator, we can only use three because that’s the much it can carry, so for a month now , we didn’t make much profit. The government should do something about this’’.

However, efforts made by our reporter to reach out to the management of the company proved abortive, but a staff who doesn’t want his name in print attributed the power outage to ‘low power generation.’
