The State Secretary Nigeria Motorcycle Transport Union (NMTU) Kogi state branch ,Comrade Anas Upahi Umar has promised to all aspirants to the union offices that the electoral body would conduct a free, fair and transparent election schedule for Saturday 1st of June 2024 to choose its new Lokoja local Government executives
Umar gave the assurance on Tuesday in Lokoja, while speaking to Newsmen ahead of Saturday election
“We assure aspirants that the union is interested and desirous of conducting a free, fair transparent election in Lokoja Local Government ,’’ he said.
The secretary assured all aspirations that there’s no plan to impose any candidate as all candidates are expected to test their popularity and acceptability through ballots.
He enjoined all aspirants to extend a hand of felicitation to whoever emerged as the Chairman as signed by all aspirants in the Memorandum of understanding and and undertaking

A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING/ UNDERTAKING (PEACE ACCORD) FOR NIGERIA MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORT UNION (NMTU) KOGI STATE CHAPTER, LOKOJA BRANCH
FORMER CHAIRMEN, GENERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AND THE TEN TRIBAL EXECUTIVES
SUBMITTED TO THE OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN NIGERIA.MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORT UNION (NMTU) KOGI STATE CHAPTER.

This Memorandum of understanding and peace initiative/undertaking between the former chairmen , General Executive Council and the tribal Executives that formed the Nigeria Motorcycle Transport Union (NMTU),Kogi state Chapter, Lokoja Branch, made this 4th day of April 2024.
The NMTU is an association that’s registered under the law of the federal Republic of Nigeria and has it registered office at no 161 IBB Way Lokoja, Kogi state.
The NMTU leadership composed of the General Executive Council and Ten tribal Executives that formally formed the association called NMTU Lokoja branch namely:
(1)Hausa, Nupe and Kakanda
(2) Okun and Oworo |
(3)Igala
(4)Bassa-Nge
(5)Egbira-Koto
(6)Bassa-Nkomu
(7) Egbira-Okene
(8) Kupa/Abawa
(9)Edo/Delta
(10) Igbo.
Above mentioned are the tribal Executives.
The said tribal executives under the NMTU have their independent executives who serve as advisers to the executive council of the NMTU
By the constitution of the NMTU Lokoja Branch Issues of disputes petween Individuals, groups, parties, tribal union or the executives alike are resolved through Internal mechanism.
To further engender peace, due process, rule of law in resolving disputes within the NMTU, it was Unanimously agreed at the joint meeting of the NMTU on the 9″ day of March 2024 at the union office that the union shall further elicit the undertaking of the former Chairmen, General Executive Council and the Tribal Executives of NMTU in the form of peace accord within all the leaders aforesaid to maintain peace, law and order.
IT IS HEREBY AGREED AS FOLLOWS :

(1) That this MOU stands on Election of the union Pre-Election, Election and Post Election.
(2) That any dispute however, an in whatever manner that may arise, the proper channels in resolving the disputes Internally must be exercised and not re-sought to any form of factions within the
NMTU.
(3) That every contestant shall only campaign within the said arms and tribes of the union. (4) On know account shall any contestant involve any external body to influence the election or impose the candidate on us.
(5) That any candidate of any office found to be influenced by the external body either direct or indirect shall be disqualified.
(6) That the union shall continue to be one body within the Kogi State Chapter
(7) That the union and it body shall adhere to the authority of the . state chapter which Is supreme from the national body.
(8)That the Constitution of the union is supreme and remains binding on all contestants.
(9) That every contestant is free to campaign in our tribes openly,in writing and any form.
(10) No use of media for campaign.
That we the members of the highest realm of the union Former Chairmen, General Executives Council and the Tribal Executive that our names and signature all appear hereby by this undertaking agree that there shall be free and fair election within the body called Nigeria
