As the battle to address criminality hots up in Kogi State, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on Security Matters in charge of Kogi Local Government Area, Hon Abdulkarim Isah (ECOMOG) and the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed have taken the fight to the den of criminals operating in the area.
The onslaught which was in collaboration with the vigilante group in the area was also rewarded with the apprehension of some kingpins while others took to their heels into the thick forest with the appointees assuring of their commitment not to rest until the crime perpetrators are captured.
In the same vein, the corpse of one of the victims who died while under the kidnappers den was recovered for burial.
Speaking on the development, the security aide to the Governor in the area, Hon Abdulkarim Isah a.k.a ECOMOG described the success recorded as just the beginning, adding that he would not fold his arms and watch men of the underworld take over his dormain.
He maintained further that the mandate given to him by the Governor was to ensure security of lives and property of the people of Kogi Local Government Area, a task he stressed is ready to execute to the letter.
The Security aide promised those sponsoring crime in the LGA to desist or else the long arm of law would catch up with them and that when that happened, they would not be spared.
He applauded the commitment of Governor Bello to ensuring his people slept with their eyes closed, assuring that the state’s investment in the sector would not be a waste as they are already tightening the noose on criminals wherever they may be within the Local Government.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed, who was also at the forefront during the hunt said the effort was to compliment the energy being expended by Governor Bello to nip security situation in the bud.
Bashir said the operation could not have come at a better time than now that Governor Bello has been given the onerous task of leading efforts to address insecurity in the 19 Northern States of Nigeria.
