On May 29th 2019, the outgoing governor of Borno state Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state vowed never to interfere with administration of the incoming governor Borno state Prof Babagana Umara Zulum.
Read his short handing over message below:
“With the official oath taking and handing over, my tenure as Borno state governor has officially come to an end.
I can’t be a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the same time be the governor of Borno state.
My brother and good friend, I was your boss few minutes ago, now you’re my boss because you are now the number one indigen of Borno state, constitutionally and otherwise.
I must have helped you to actualized your dream of becoming governor, someone also helped me. If I send or recommend anybody for any appointment, please don’t honour it. You know many competent Borno sons and daughters the same way I do, you know those capable of working with you.
My only appeal to you is, government is a continuous process, my main purpose of endorsing and supporting you is because I know you’re capable and trustworthy. I appeal to you to complete my uncompleted projects.
May Allah guide and protect you as you take our beloved state of Borno to Next Level.
