Chairman of Lokoja local government transition committee,comrade Abdullahi Adamu on Thursday led management staff and members of the council on a an official working visit to the Unicane Industries Limited in Jamata
In statement obtained by THEANALYSTNG signed by comrade Illiyasu Zakari,Special adviser on media to the chairman in Lokoja,said Abdullahi informed the GM ,Mr Najib Abbound,that their visit was to familiarise and discuss areas corporation, especially in the areas of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), how to curb the insecurity around the area and environmental air, water and environmental pollutions among others.
The Chairman noted that, although the company has helped in the areas of employment, it has also brought the influx of both good and bad people.
The Director of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Aliyu Musa Omuwa who also spoke highlighted areas like the formation of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and a safer and better arrangement for parking of trucks as against the roadside parking.
The General Manager, Mr. Najib Abboud who hosted the Local Government team stated that the visit is the first time a Chairman from Lokoja LG will be visiting to interact with the company and to see what they are doing. He thanked the Chairman for the initiative which he believes has opened the door for continuous interaction.
Mr. Najib noted that the company have done a lot in terms of CSR and will continue to do so. Some of their interventions he said includes construction of bypass road to Jamata, recruitment and payment of teachers, visiting Doctor and Nurses among many others.
He noted that the company is operating as a Free Trade Zone with 460 staff strength and over 70% of them from Kogi State.
In the aspect of pollution, the Ethanol producing company he said is also interested in safe environment that is why they have a CO2 recovery plant and Bio digester to ensure the environment is not polluted. He assured the Chairman that all the requests would be table before the management for collaboration and synergy.
Unicane Industries Limited is one of the largest ethanol producer on the African continent with state-of-the-art local cassava fermentation-to-distillation 420,000 LPD capacity plant of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) from 100 percent locally sourced raw materials from Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Kaduna etc
