His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi,the Fourth Maigari of Lokoja,is the senior son of late Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Kabiru Maikarfi 111,Grandson of Late Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammadu Maikarfi 11, Great-grandson of Muhammadu Maikarfi 1, and head of Maikarfi Dynasty, was born to the families of Late HRH, (Dr) Muhammadu Kabiru Maikarfi 111, and Late Hajiya Ummul-Kulsum Kabir Maikarfi, on Wednesday, December 2nd, 1964 in the Ancient Town of Lokoja, Kogi State.
He started Qur’anic education at the tender age based on the lay down tradition of the royal families and continued pursuing Islamic education at the same time.
His Royal Highness was enrolled in Ma’ahadi Local School Management Board (LSMB) Primary school, Lokoja, 1971-77, where he obtained his first school leaving certificate.
Gambo, as he’s popularly known,gained admission into the then Government Technical Secondary School, Lokoja,1977-79, before he proceeded to Government Technical Secondary School, New Bussa in then Kwara state ,1979-1982.
In his quest for higher education,he proceeded to Kaduna Polytechnic,1986-89, where he bagged National Diploma (ND) in Mining and Engineering.
In 1992, Kabir went back to his
alma mater, Kaduna Polytechnic,where he obtained Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mining Engineering in 1994. He’s a holder of Certificate In Post Graduate Diploma in Management Sciences.
His working experience as a mining Engineer started with kogi state Ministry of Solid Mineral resources in 2000 where he worked for six years and resigned in 2006, same year( 2006) Kabir gained employment with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Abuja.
Until his appointment as the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, (on the 8th of January,2024) rose to the position of Senior Manager in CAC, headquarters, Abuja.

His ability to mix freely with people, especially youths,elders,common men among many made him acceptable not only to the indigenes but to non- indigenes inhabitants of Lokoja.
Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir is slow to anger but swift to chide,a fine gentleman,educated and learned both in western and Islamic systems, a born leader and a successful administrator of men, loving and likeable,the delight of Lakwajawa,young and old.
He candidly tells the truth with regards to any issues and always passionate about Lokoja community even before his appointment as the Royal father.
Another thing worthy of note is the new Maigari’s contributions to youth development. He has, through his position been involved in securing employment to our youths in Corporate Affairs Commission(CAC) into various cadre. He has taken it on himself to contribute his quota in the educational development of his people.

Lokoja is the most unique town in Nigeria with a long tradition (from the founding fathers) of peaceful co-existence and cooperation between the christians and Muslims, a tradition which has been followed by the grandfather and father (past Maigari’s) of Late Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi and which has promoted unity and progress in the town.
Alhaji Ibrahim’s father, had the singular fortune of reigned for thirty (30) years and re-establishing the glory of Lokoja as a 1st class chieftaincy, and witnessing the transformation of Lokoja into a state capital.
Having closely studies his late father and imbibed his qualities, it is our prayer that Almighty God would grant His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir the fourth, the New Maigari of Lokoja, long life wisdom, knowledge, patience: fortune, so that during his reign Lokoja will continue to be peaceful and record greater achievements infrastructurally, Educationally, Industrially, Socially, Politically and religiously.
His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, the fourth Maigari of Lokoja, is happily married with 2 children, he enjoys discourse, Swimming, reading and interactions with common men.
