Gov. Bello presents N258.2b 2024 budget for Kogi

Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello of Kogi state on Monday presented N258.2b, 2024 budget to the state House of Assembly for approval.

Speaking at the ceremony, Bello said the budget tagged- ‘”Budget Of Consolidation And Continuity For Inclusive Growth”, was aimed to enhance the mobilization of internally Generated Revenue (IGR),collect debts owed the state by the federal government, continue to collect and recover the state’s equity share in Obajana cement company,provide a more conducive environment for our development partners from all over the world in orde to contribute maximally to the state’s economy.

He said the 2024 budget has an estimated outlay of N258,278,501,39.00 as against N197,599,674,912.00.revised approved budget for 2023 .

Governor Bello further stated that the budget was made up of N112.54 billion capital expenditure, representing 43.57 per cent and N 145.736 billion recurrent expenditure, representing 56.43 per cent.

The 2024 budget, Bello said is to complete all the on-going projects and add new in the area of needs, expand the state revenue generation capacity to reduce over dependence on federation account and ensure greater transparency, accountability and public expenditure.
Bello further said the 2024 budget is targeted to improve the quality of education at all levels,make it accessible to all citizens and to ensure food security amongst others critical sector of the economy,

Governor Bello who is presenting his large budget to the House thanked the lawmakers for the harmonious relationship between them and the executive.

He commended the people of Kogi state for casting their votes for Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo the governor -elect and ensured them of the incoming administration to not only consolidate on his achievements by subside the current administration.
