Kogi ADC Guber Candidate,Abejide Meets Leagues Of Imams,Assures Of Fairness

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Elder Leke Abejide has assured the Muslim Ummah that his administration will operate on the principles of fairness, equity and justice as enshrined in the 1999 constitution.

Abejide gave the assurance when he and his running mate, Dr Idris Omede, met with Kogi state Leagues of Imam, Muslim clerics in continuation of their dialogue with stakeholders in the state on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Abejide, a serving member of House of representatives, said as religious leaders who control large followers, majority of whom have been affected by the wrong policies of the APC government, it was imperative to seek their prayers and support as well as interact with them on the way forward for Kogi state.

The governorship flag bearer said he will defend the rights of every citizen to exercise their sociocultural and religious freedom at all times, adding that inclusiveness will be his watch word.

He views to rescue Kogi state from the maladministration of the ruling APC in the state

The ADC frontrunner maintained further that with his vast knowledge of the problems bedeviled the state and his empowerment programmes which he sponsored through his personal resources,’I am well prepared for the task of revamping the entire state to economic prosperous state” he promised.

He urged the clerics to deeply reflect on the prevailing economic and security situations of the state and preach the truth so that the electorate would understand what choice to make on November 11.

“I came to unveil myself to you, to seek your prayers and support to succeed in becoming the governor of Kogi state come November 11 so that together we could secure the state and restore hope to the people.

“I will be fair and just to all citizens and segments of the state. I will rule by the principles of justice, defend all and promote all, and each person will exercise their freedom as the constitution permits,” Abejide said.

Earlier,director General of ADC Guber campaign council and former Secretary to Kogi state governor,Chief Shola Ojo, called on the Muslim clerics on the need to enlighten their followers on why they should vote the ADC Guber candidate,whom he described as detribiise politician.

In his own remarks, the ADC deputy Governorship candidate, Dr Idris Omede, urged the imam to canvass for ADC candidate.

He described the party as a united party, if voted would unite the people of Kogi state irrespective of religion or tribe.

Omede,a one time commissioner of Health in kogi state noted that the current economic meltdown been face is not applicable to Muslims or Christians.
” Our party with handshake as it logo signified Unity,peace and equity, if given the mandate,Kogi would prosper ” he said.

In his welcome addressed, secretary of the group, Ustaz Ibrahim Nyass Yusuf Abdullah,said as religious leaders, they’ll continue to pray for the best for the state as,
“Kogi belongs to both Muslims and their Christians counterpart” he said.

He commended Abejide over his laudable empowerment programmes on education,roads and empowerment of widows and assured him of their prayers.

The event was attended by Imams of various juma’at mosque across the state.
