Ahead of November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello has again reiterated his aversion for failure and charged political stakeholders, cabinet members and other appointees to renew their efforts in the quest to deliver the state for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Bello made the call today in Lokoja during an extraordinary stakeholders meeting in Glass House of Government House, to assess the success of the flag-off of the state governorship campaign activities recently held at Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre.
While calling on all party members to be more united in the face of needless onslaught from members of the opposition parties, he insisted that the All Progressives Congress which is clearly in the lead has no reason to engage in any divisive tactics or campaign of calumny against anyone.
He charged whoever may have the intention to betray the course of the APC in the state to jettison such intent as such will not affect the victory of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman (OAU) and his Deputy, Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu (JOS).
“If you betray, you betray yourself. Your betrayal won’t stop our winning. It will only give the chance to the loyal ones to come in. So, you can betray at your own peril”, he said.
Governor Bello revealed that the state government will soon begin another phase of palliative distribution across all wards in the 21 Local Government Areas, stressing that such distribution will be done without considerations for political or religious affiliations.
Earlier in a goodwill message, the state Deputy Governor, Chief Edward David Onoja who heartily commended decampees for their bold decision to support consolidation quest of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, urged all stakeholders to shun jamborees and get down to work for the success of the APC at the grassroot. He expressed optimism that come November 11, the governorship candidate of the APC would be declared winner with unimaginable margin.
On his part, the Director -General of Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council and Honourable Minister for Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Abubakar said with the huge success of the stakeholders meeting held in Ogbonicha yesterday, the people of Kogi East Senatorial District have no reason to dump the APC and adopt some parties that are struggling for survival as a result of zero structure for electoral success. He assured participants that the APC will garner more votes from the Easter flank than it did during the last presidential and Senatorial elections.
Other speakers at the meeting who assured overwhelming victory for Alhaji Ododo in their respective Constituencies were Kogi APC chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello; Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf; Hon. Abdulazeez Idris King and Hajia Halima Alfa.
