Some hoodlums suspected to be political thugs on the early hours of Monday 24 , July 2023 set ablaze a campaign office belonging to the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Lokoja, Kogi State, Alhaji Yakubu Murtala Ajaka.
The Deputy Governorship Candidate of SDP in November 11, 2023 election, Hon. Sam Ranti Abenemi while conducting journalists round said the office located at Kwata Road, Lokoja,the state capital, which was attacked two weeks ago, was invaded by the same assilants in the early hours of Monday 24 July 2023.
He alleged that the thugs were members of the ruling APC and die- hard supporters of APC governorship candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He maintained further that The thugs vandalised the party properties before setting the entire building ablaze.
Aside the main conference hall that was burnt, offices within the facilities were seriously vandalised,as laptops, computers and other accessories were carted away.
Meanwhile, Abenerni appealed to Party supporters to remain calm, as he called on the Police and other security agencies in the state to, as a matter of urgency, investigate the matter with a view to bringing the culprits to justice.
