All Progressive Congress chieftain in kogi state and Gabi Of Lokoja,Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali, Member representing Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency,Hon. Danladi Suleiman Aguye,Hon. Shehu Bin-Ebiya, member representing Lokoja 1 Constituency, Islamic clerics,politicians were among the dignitaries that attended the naming ceremony of Abubakar Zakari,New born baby of Zakari Abubakar Ola.
The naming ceremony was presided over by the chief Imam of Lokoja, sheikh Muhammad Aminu Sha’aban, took place at Newlyout, residence of Zakari on Thursday.
The chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammadu Aminu Sha’aban,in a special prayer said Lokoja community and Kogi state in general are proud of the exploits and accomplishments of Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali .
The Islamic scholar said the Baba Ali’s exemplary leadership in the ministry on interior is typifies the teachings and tenets of Islam which espoused using positions of authority to make meaningful contributions and improve the lot of the people.
Imam Sha’aban urged Muslim faithful to use their positions positively and further enjoined them to always be humbled by the remembrance of God. He noted that everyone has a limited time on earth and must, therefore, spend such time in accordance with the dictates of Allah.
The Chief Imam noted that positions of authority are transient, hence the imperative of using them to improve lives so that people can often make reference.
He called on Newly Elected members and political office holders to spend their time and use their positions to please God and humanity like Baba Ali did.
“Everyone of you knows what is good and what is bad.
Everyone of you knows what to do for the development of this community. Do not be like the politicians of yesteryears who had plenty of time and were not judicious about it. There are people who had occupied the positions you are occupying now, their time ended, your time would also end,” Sha’aban said.
He admonished them against corruption, greed, highhandedness, abuse of power and inordinate desires, saying the consequences of such vices are grave. ”Allah says that on the day when everything will come to an end, those who used their offices for good will be rewarded for what they have done. But those who used it in a negative manner, Allah says they would regret their lives,” the Chief Imam said.
He prayed Allah to grant the new born baby, Abubakar Zakari, long life, good health and more prosperous years ahead.
Zakari, who was overwhelmed with the large turnout expressed his gratitude to all those that graced the occasion.
