The social Democratic Party (SDP) Governorship candidate in Kogi state, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka has called on kogites to embrace peace and solidarity.

Ajaka made the plead via press release signed by Faruk Adejoh Audu,
Director, Communications
Muritala Yakubu Ajaka Campaign, obtained by THEANALYSTNG in Lokoja on Sunday.

The statement reads:
“Onbhalf of Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, I wish to appeal to the good people of Kogi State to eschew the politics of acrimony and bitterness at this point of our history.

We observe that elections In our state in the last few years has degenerated from a subtle civic exercise to a theatre of bedlam and bloodletting which has unfortunately claimed the lives of several citizens.

Alhaji Ajaka and many other candidates were attracted to the race this time around obviously to redress and reverse the rots of the last eight years particularly the orchestrated reign of acerbity and violence amongst of our people.

We urge our people, particularly our supporters to recognise that almost all the candidates have the same goal of liberating our people from the throes of economic retardation and misgovernance.

All candidates have the constitutional right to seek the votes of the people just like our candidate. We therefore appeal to all our teeming supporters and supporters of all other candidates to be wary of conducts that could be considered mutually offensive.

Any such aggressive conduct that will alienate some of our compatroits is at variance with the belief of our candidate that victory in this present struggle can only be attained through cohesive solidarity and not discord amongst the oppressed.

As a matter of fact candidates are still courteously engaged in productive talks and how to ensure their individual ambitions are streamlined to achieve the common goal.

For emphasis we hereby urge all our supporters to relate with other comptroits with decency and respect rather than unnecessary antagonism that could comprise the struggle.

We equally urge supporters of all other candidates to see every one as partners and comrades and not rivals or enemies in the battle to regain our dear state from the misrule of the last eight years.

We play into the deliberate diabolic design of our common adversaries to defeat our resolve if we continue to fight each other and forget the common goal of regaining our state from their stranglehold. Let peace, love and solidarity reign.” he pleaded.
