A Sociopolitical Group, that promotes the tenet of Democracy and good governance , Progressive People’s Movement ( PPM)
has declared its support for the former member of APC NWC,Alhaji Murtala Ajaka for the 2023 elections in Kogi state.
Malam Gimba Agaie, Director General of the group,made the declaration at a press conference on Tuesday in Lokoja,on Wednesday.
According to Gimba ,who hails from Lokoja local government of Kogi state, said although PPM, was non-partisan in its advocacy for good leadership at all levels, its position on Ajaka is for the “ overall best interest of Kogi state.”
“At this juncture in the leadership trajectory of our dear state, we need to look beyond party interests and sentiments, and settle for someone with the necessary competency and character to lift Kogi state from its current quagmire.
“Having carefully x-rayed all the governorship candidates of the various political parties, we are of a strong conviction that with Alhaji Murtala Ajaka as governor, Kogi State, he will restored to its glory days.
“PPM is made up of respected elders,women, youths and professionals from Kogi state whose aims and objectives is to install a responsible and people’s oriented administration in kogi state.
“As advocates of good leadership, part of our goal is to support anyone that can deliver the dividends of democracy, drive the economy and lift people from hunger, especially at the grass root.
“This is not about the sentiment of my party or not my party, but about the individual with the pedigree to deliver on basic infrastructure and job creation, especially for our teeming youths and secure the future of cross river people, and the time is now.
Gimba added that ,“Don’t forget that Murtala Ajaka is philanthropist and he has made massive impact on his people, especially through the provision of relevant infrastructure , including road intervention projects, community civic centers/town halls interventions as well as Education/school intervention project.
He therefore appealed to kogites to support the ambition of Alhaji Murtala Ajaka stressing that when he get into office he’ll deliver the dividends of democracy.
