Isunlu Bank Robbery ; Gunmen strike, kill DPO, other policemen, civilian in Kogi

Unknown gunmen suspected to be arm robbers on Thursday attacked Isanlu Police station killing the Divisional Police officer and seven others policemen on duty including a civilian.

Mr Segun Thomas who witnessed the tragic incident in a telephone interview informed our reporter that the incident occcurred at about 12pm on Thursday.

A retired police officer,Thomas further explained that the gunmen first attacked the Isanlu police station where the Divisional Police Officer in charged of the station, five policemen and two female police officers were killed and their weapons carted away.

He added that the robbers having enjoyed their free day at the police station proceeded to the local government branch of  First Bank Plc where a female civilian who was at the bank to transact business was also killed by the gunmen, bringing the total causality to nine persons.

He lamented that the robbers attacked the bank for more than one hour without any interference.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Kogi state Police command DSP Williams Ayah said the incident occurred, but the Commissioner of Police CP Edeh Ayuba has directed the deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of  operation to proceed to the local government for further investigation.

Ayah assured that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would be arrest and prosecuted.
