Kogi NUJ Lauds Bello for Embarking on People-oriented Projects

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council,Comrade Adeiza Momojimoh , has commended the state government for embarking on people oriented projects.

The Chairman gave the commendation on Saturday when he led some members of the union on tour of some projects embarked upon by Governor Yahaya Bello across the state.

He disclosed that the projects tallied with the yearning and aspirations of the residents of the state and encouraged the governor to do more.

“As a watch dog, we come here to see what the Governor is doing with the public funds and not to antagonise him but to work as partners in progress,” he stated.

Adeiza further stated that during the electioneering, many promises were made to the people, “so we came here to see things for ourselves and what is on ground attest that the governor is fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of the state as he marked his 7th years in office”.

The crew of Journalists were on visit to most of the completed projects in the Western, Central and Eastern flanks of kogi state to see for themselves the numbers of achievements recorded by the administration of governor Bello, within 7th year in office.

The chairman said ” we visited Muhammadu Buhari civic centre, GYB model school, Ganaja Flyover, College of University Science and Technology and Reference Hospital, Okene and we collectively agreed that the governor has done very well”, he affirmed.

At CUSTECH,Osara, the team were received by where the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Salawu Sadiku, who reeled out the efforts of his administration, as the head of the three years old institution.

He disclosed that CUSTECH commenced operation in 2021, adding that the National Universities Commission,NUC, had approved all the courses presented to it by the Senate of the institution, pointing out that massive construction of the various faculties of the university had also commenced with funds from Tetfund and the state government.

Prof. Sadiku, who took Journalists round the construction works going on in the university,said the basic aim of the university was the production of science and technological based manpower.

He expressed optimism that such manpower would boost the workforce that would work in Ajaokuta Steel project when it eventually icommences operation in future.

According to him, some of the products of institution will also explore the abundant and reach solid mineral resources of the state and put them into use for its development among other advantages.

The CUSTECH boss said the coming into existence of the institution had also,to a large degree, solved the challenges facing indigenes of the state who often experience difficulty in securing admission in other universities in the country.
