Former Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has condoled with the people of Lokoja and Kogi state on the passing on of the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi 111,OON,.
Idris ,who paid a condolence visit on Tuesday, also commiserated with the royal family and the Lokoja Emirate Council on the death of His Royal Highness who for 30 years had the privilege of leading the people of Lokoja with diligence and dedication.
He said the Maigari, who was a strong advocate for peace and development in the Kogi state, demonstrated visionary leadership that was very evident to all, including his efforts to maintain peaceful co-existence amongst the people of his domain and the state at large.
The former Governor who described the demised of the royal father not only a great lost to the people of Lokoja Emirate council but to the entire state, described Maigari as a father to all.
He said the Maigari’s style of servant leadership for over three decades earned him the trust and respect of his community, contemporaries and Nigerians from diverse political, social and religious leanings.
He maintained further that the Monach’s good works would continue to be remembered and cherished in his community and the state , praying almighty God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and grant the people of Lokoja Emirate council the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable lost during this time of mourning.
Responding, Maiyaki of Lokoja, Alhaji Ali Lawal, thanked the former governor for the visit adding that Governor Ibrahim Idris who holds the traditional title of FAGACI OF LOKOJA,is a household name in the palace and confidant of late Maigari .
He commended Idris for his concerns since the death of the monarch and prayed for his safe return to his destination.
Amongst those who received the Ex-gov includes: the senior son of Maigari of Lokoja,Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Sha’aban, Magajin gari of Lokoja,Khalifa Etsu Shuiabu Kenchi, Waziri of Lokoja, Alhaji Abdulrahman Idris and traditional title holders from the area.
