Hon. Muhammed Ibuku Abubakar Bukky, has emerged as the Consensus candidate for the New Nigerian People’s Party( NNPP) for the Kogi west senatorial district in the just concluded party primary which took place in Kabba on Sunday.
The affirmation was conducted with full endorsement of all the seven local governments delegates across the senatorial District after which votes were counted.
Declaring Muhammed Abubakar Ibuku Bukky unopposed, the Kogi senatorial primary election committee Chairman, Alhaji Danjuma Usman explained that the delegates opted for voting through voice vote, before the results were declared.
Besides, he added: “Consequently, on the authority conferred on me, I hereby declare, having satisfied all extant laws, I declare Muhammed Abubakar Ibuku Bukky as the NNPP winner of Kogi west Senatorial election.”
He noted that delegates are to either conduct the election by voice vote or actual casting of vote,” stating that the committee and the delegates chose to adopt voice votes.
Continuing; “I hereby declare as follows: total accredited voters, 245, total votes cast 245 .” Usman declared .
In his acceptance speech, Bukky described the election as free, fair and transparent.
He thanked and appreciated the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and assured them of good representation if he wins at the 2023 election.
Bukky,who was described as a philanthropist,assured the people of Kogi west of his determination to deliver the devidends of democracy to the entire constituents if given the mandate.
According to him, he is in the race to provide positive, all inclusive representation, which he said, had been lacking in the constituent
“I am in this contest because I want to give quality representation to my people because they deserve it and much more.
“Before now, I have been carrying out projects in the constituents that have direct bearing on the lives of my people, in my own personal capacity.
“And so getting the people’s mandate can only mean more projects and empowerment programs for the women and youths to realize their full potential.’ Bukky said.
He added that educational scholarships, agricultural interventions for farmers, sports and health issues will be given priority.
Bukky further said he’ll bring fresh energy and ideas to better the lot of the people, noting that the skill acquisition and innovativeness of the youths makes them well placed to transform society.
“If I get the seat, we will do great exploits. People will see radical changes in Kogi west senatorial District.
“I will be bringing my youthful energy and new ideas to turn things around for the good of everyone. It won’t be business as usual I assure you,” he stated.
In his legislative blueprint, the NNPP candidate promised to initiate quality legislation that would improve the socio-economic well-being of his constituents and Kogi people at large
The exercise was attended by NNPP local governments chairmen, leaders and stakeholders of the party in the state, security agents and INEC representatives amongst many.
