The Kogi State governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, earlier today paid a strategic visit to Isanlu-Esa, Yagba West Local Government Area, as part of renewed efforts to intensify the fight against criminal activities and ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
During the visit, the governor met with community leaders, traditional rulers, and security stakeholders, where he reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens across the state.
He emphasized that his government will not tolerate any form of banditry, kidnapping, or communal unrest, assuring residents that security agencies have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to any threats within the area.
The governor also commended the people of Isanlu-Esa for their cooperation with security operatives, noting that intelligence sharing between residents and law enforcement remains crucial to achieving a crime-free society.
He announced plans to deploy additional security personnel to flashpoints in Yagba West and improve logistics support for local vigilante groups to enhance community policing.
Accompanying the governor on the visit were the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, the Director of the State Security Service (DSS), the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, and other top government officials.
They all reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to rid the area of criminal elements and restore public confidence in security institutions.
In his remarks, the Olu of Isanlu-Esa expressed appreciation to the Chief Servant for his proactive leadership and regular engagement with grassroots communities, describing the visit as a strong morale booster for both residents and local security teams.
Several community members who spoke during the visit lauded the state government’s renewed focus on rural security, saying it would help restore confidence among farmers and traders who had been affected by past security challenges.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the engagement, the Chief Servant reaffirmed his zero-tolerance stance on insecurity, declaring that no criminal will find a safe haven anywhere in Kogi State.
“We owe our people peace, safety, and freedom from fear,” he said. “Our administration will continue to support security agencies and community structures to ensure that every corner of Kogi remains safe and secure for all law-abiding citizens.”
The visit to Isanlu-Esa is part of a broader statewide security tour aimed at strengthening collaboration between the government, security agencies, and local communities in the ongoing effort to defeat criminality across Kogi State.
