A socio-political group, the Ekiti Kete Collective (EKC) has urged the main opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Ekiti State to be wary of APC in our fold.
Specifically, the EKC urged the PDP to be wary of those who might be coming forward to pick it’s governorship ticket ahead of next year’s governorship election in order to compromise the process.
In statement issued in Ado Ekiti, the state capital on Monday by the National Coordinator, Seyi Aluko, the group warned the PDP not to allow the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC hijack the party ahead of the poll.
“We,, members of the Ekiti Kete Collective urged the leadership of the PDP to be wary of strange individuals who will be making their ways into their party.
“We are saying this because of the intelligence that we have gathered in the last few days of the attempts being made by the APC to sponsor candidates within their party,” the statement reads.
Going further, Aluko on behalf of the group stated that the APC has perfected plans to sponsor candidates, particularly the younger brother of the Chief of Army, one Dr. Wole Oluyede to contest the ticket of the party.
“We have it on good authority that the APC has been working day and night to plant aspirants within the PDP with a view to using it to destabilize it.
“One of such people being propelled is one
Dr Wole Oluyede whom he heard has been primed to pick up the ticket of the PDP and afterwards withdraw from the race to soften the grounds for the APC.
We’re all aware that he Oluyede is not a member of PDP, so when did he join the party to want to contest for the ticket of our party? the statement reads.
The group however urged the PDP to be mindful of the fact that God has placed it at a vantage position to rescue the state from misrule and bad governance.
“We are appealing to them, not to betray the collective trust of the Ekiti people on this regards, so it’s to our party advantage to give the ticket to a core member of our great party,” the statement concluded.
