The Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, has been named the winner of the Best Governor on Infrastructure Development Award in the North-West Zone of Nigeria, 2025 by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.
According to a press statement signed by the publisher and CEO, Chief Olugbemi Femi, Governor Idris’s nomination was based on the recommendation of a team of experts who conducted an opinion poll, adding that the experts recognized his outstanding efforts in overhauling the road infrastructure in the state, including the construction of several key roads such as:
- Shanga to Yar Basae road
- Koko to Dabai road
- Maidangwami to Kangi road
- Argungu road
- Kwakabo junction to Banizumbo road
- 8.4km road in Suru Local Government Area
These projects demonstrate Governor Idris’s commitment to improving infrastructure and promoting economic growth in Kebbi State.
He further said the award will be presented during the 15th Public Lecture and Award Ceremony on August 26, 2025, at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, pointed out that the ceremony will feature a Red Carpet Ceremony starting at 5 pm, followed by the main event at 6 pm and a dinner program. The theme of the event is “The Role of Independent Media Organizations in Promoting Participatory Democracy and Good Governance in Nigeria.”
He noted that the occasion will also mark the launch of a ₦100 million fund for podcast studio equipment and the establishment of Democracy Newsline Newspaper Online Television, aimed at promoting democracy and good governance in Nigeria.
The award ceremony promises to be a significant event, bringing together leaders and stakeholders to discuss important issues and celebrate excellence.
