Vice President Kashim Shettima delivered a strong message of unity on Thursday in Abuja during the unveiling of OPL245: The Inside Story of the $1.3bn Nigerian Oil Bloc by former AGF Mohammed Bello Adoke SAN. He reminded politicians from APC, PDP, ADC, and NNPP that they share a common goal—nation-building—urging them to set aside partisan differences.
Shettima praised prominent figures present at the event, calling Nasir El‑Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, his “elder brother”, he also lauded former Kano Governor and NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso of the Kwankwassiyya Movement. Their presence, he said, symbolised the diverse yet united political coalition.
He emphasized that the bonds holding Nigeria’s political class together are stronger than any differences: “What binds us together surpasses whatever divides us,” citing even former IGP Mohammed Abubakar and Senator Daggash, whose party affiliations remain fluid. “We are all one,” he declared.
Tying the theme to today’s political landscape, Shettima noted the significance of shared values in confronting national challenges. As realignments for the 2027 elections gain momentum, he called on all parties to move beyond mere politicking toward genuine collaboration and institution‑building.
