Kogi ADC Issues Disclaimer On Formation Of New Wards, Local Government Executive Structures And coordinators

says no directive from national headquarters until tenure of current holders expire

The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC) has issued a disclaimer on those setting up parallel ward, local government executive committees and coordinators across the state.

In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party in Kogi State, Mallam Abdulmalik Suleiman in Lokoja on Monday, ADC stated that no action has been taken to erect structure in the various wards and local governments across the state.

The party in the statement made available to newsmen maintained that the party has not appointed a new local government, ward executives and coordinators pending the expiration of the current leadership as legally constituted.

ADC stated that contrary to the activities of some elements parading themselves as local government, ward and coordinators, the national headquarters has not taken any decision on the composition of wards and local government executive committees.

“This is to bring to the notice of our members and the general public that the national headquarters of our great party has not appointed anyone as coordinators of local government or constitute a new executives in both local government and wards across the state.

“Whoever is parading himself or herself as coordinator of the ADC in any local government or ward in Kogi State is acting on his own and not on behalf of the party.

“We are however urging our teeming members and the general public to be wary of the antics of these fifth columnists who are not acting on behalf of the ADC,” the statement reads.

Suleiman further added that “The public should note that the national headquarters of the ADC led by the Interim National Chairman, Senator David Mark and the National Working Committee has not taken any firm directive with regards to the composition of wards and local government and State executive committees membership.

“The State chapter of the ADC in line with the directive of the national headquarters has however maintained that the current holders of the offices be allowed to finish their tenure of office.

“Until this is done, it would be illegal and undemocratic to tinker with the existing structure as it is currently composed,” the statement reads.
