The WALVICOLA Oil & Gas has taken an important step in addressing the high cost of fuel and scarcity issue in Kogi State with the opening of its new filling station in Lokoja.
The WALVICOLA Oil & Gas, which was officially opened on Thursday along Zone 8, Lokoja, is affiliated with MRS Oil & Gas, aimed to provide quality fuel at affordable prices to customers.
Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, the Managing Director/CEO of WALVICOLA Oil & Gas, Hon. Pius Kolawole, said the new filling station was part of the company’s commitment to solving the high cost of fuel and scarcity problem in the confluence city.

Hon Kolawole noted that the Lokoja branch is the third filling station by the company since its establishment in 2011, demonstrating its dedication to expanding its presence across Kogi State and beyond.
He expressed the commitment of WALVICOLA Oil & Gas to expanding its presence in the state with plans to establish more filling stations in the future.

In his remarks, the Kogi Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Engr Olusegun Joseph, who represented His Excellency, Gov. Ahmed Ododo, commended WALVICOLA Oil & Gas for its initiative to boost the state’s economy and create jobs.
He noted that the company’s investment was a welcome development that aligned with the state government’s efforts to drive economic growth and development.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPR), Engr Godwin Orits Ogbe, commended WALVICOLA Oil & Gas for adhering to the required high standards in establishing the new filling station.
Ogbe noted that WALVICOLA had secured all necessary licenses and maintained strict compliance with regulatory requirements, including the standardization of dispensing meters.
He emphasised that the commitment to quality and transparency was evident in the company’s operations, urging customers to patronize WALVICOLA Oil & Gas to ensure they receive value for their money.
Ogbe also advised other filling stations to emulate WALVICOLA’s example by adhering to regulatory specifications and avoiding practices that shortchange customers, such as under-dispensing fuel.
He warned that the NMDPR would take severe action against any erring filling stations found to be compromising on standards, emphasizing the authority’s commitment to protecting consumers and promoting a fair and transparent fueling industry.
Government officials, friends, and other stakeholders who attended the opening ceremony, commended the MD/CEO for his initiative.
