The chairman of Lokoja based Peoples Progressive Movement, PPM, Alhaji Gimba Lokoja, has dumped the candidate of SDP in the 2023 governorship election in kogi state , Alhaji Muritala Ajaka’ and set to join Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo and APC as his former ally has been repulsive to the interest of the group after the election.
This is just as his PPM members have dissociated themselves from Ajaka and has begun to mull APC, a political Party that aligns with the interest and ideology of the group.
Alhaji Gimba Lokoja made the disclosure on Saturday, while fielding questions from Journalists in kogi state.
Alhaji Jimba , who claimed to be a close political ally to Alhaji Muritala Ajaka’, Said, his relationship with him transcended the electioneering period, using his personal resources and goodwill to mobilise and galvanized Lokoja grassroot supporters for him.
He added that , the three years of their relationship was borne out of his love and passion for the success of SDP and her candidate to win the governorship election but was disappointed by the actions of Ajaka against the group.
He said , he used the PPM as a platform to reach out to stakeholders and people at the grassroots who gave their full support for Muritala Ajaka, making Lokoja, one of the most adjudged organic supporters for him
According to Alhaji Gimba’ “More than three years now, I have been working with the candidate of our party SDP without pecuniary interest.
Rather, I spent my money to mobilise , organise while I ensured that our candidate gets the support of the people in the metropolis and hard to reach communities in Lokoja LGA.
” We never envisaged that Ajaka will abandon us in a hurry . We worked free of charge for him . We followed him up to the supreme court. Since then, he never listened to us. He wouldn’t pick our calls. Muri is a man that always hold on to his opinion, wether it is right or wrong.
” To me , Muritala Ajaka is a political neophyte. He is unlike the late Prince Abubakar Audu. May his soul rest in peace. Prince Abubakar Audu is a down to earth politician.
He listens to all opinions. Muri is a direct opposite of a good politician. If our group is to quantify what we have done for Ajaka in monetary terms , he wouldn’t be able to pay. All we are saying to the whole world is that Muri betrayed the trust the members of Peoples Progressive Association and the entire Lokoja people reposed in him” he explained.
Alhaji Gimba who is a successful business man from Lokoja traditional areas in the metropolis, commended Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo , for his concern for the people of the state especially his people of Lokoja.
He noted that the prompt payment of salaries of both state and local government councils workers and payments of waec and Jamb fees for students in public secondary schools have gone along way in ameliorating the burden of economic hardship on the people.
While exposing the innate leadership quality of Governor, Usman Ododo, he said, while , they, as humans were looking at the outward personality of Muritala Ajaka, God Almighty has a different view on Ododo, whom , he knows has better qualities in managing human and material resources.
The business man cum politician affirmed that Governor Ododo has surprised the expectations of the people, by aligning with the people in executing landmark people oriented projects.
He echoed the voices of the Lokoja indigenes for the good works he has done just a year in office, stressing that he is a man that does not discriminate on the bases of tribe , ethnicity, religion and party affiliation.
Speaking from the sideline, the general secretary of PPM,Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Danazumi blasted Muri for his penchant for use and dump syndrome.
He said, with the attitudes of Ajaka towards the association and arrogant disposition to views of others, the PPM is just inch away from aligning with APC, a party that is in sync with the interest and aspirations of the members.
