The Maigari of Lokoja and Chairman, Lokoja local government Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi 1V, has conferred the traditional title of SHAMAKI OF LOKOJA” on Alhaji Ali Abubakar Tanko Ali,a.k.a Babanbu.
The monarch stated this in a letter he personally signed and made available to journalists on Sunday in Lokoja, highlighting that as the Shamaki of Lokoja, Ali is expected to exhibit a high sense of responsibility, personal integrity and decorum which are the hallmark of his late father, late Alhaji Abubakar Tanko Ali who held the title before his demised few years ago.
According to the Maigari “By the conferment of this title on you, it is further expected that your loyalty to the traditional institution, especially the Lokoja Emirate Council must be unalloyed. You are also expected to strive hard and help in the realisation of the council’s objectives of fostering peace, unity and progress of the Emirate.”
The statement emphasised that “while congratulating you and wishing you well it has become necessary to emphasise the need for you to not only support and participate fully in all activities but functions organized by the Emirate Council but remain loyal to His Highness, needless to say, you will work in harmony with other title holders.
“You are by this appointment a member of Lokoja Traditional Title: henceforth your traditional official greetings shall be “DAUDU”.
