Light Up Movement Engages With KERC

The Leadership of Light Up Movement, on Wednesday, met with the management of the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) at the commission’s headquarters in Lokoja.

The Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Sunday Abdulwaris, in his welcomed speech assured the visitors of their readiness to work with the movement.

He pointed out that based on the information he gathered with regards to the aims and objectives of the movement : It’s imperative to work together for the best interests of the state” he said

Earlier in his address, Comrade Iliyasu Zakari,informed the chairman that they were in his office in continuation of their visit to government agencies in the state.

Comrade Zakiri who is the chairman of Light Up Lokoja Movement highlighted the aims and objectives stressing that the formation of the Commission came at a time the movement was already working on a bill for its formation.

He expressed the readiness of the movement to work closely with the commission.

Other commissioners in the commission highlighted the legal and engineering modus of the commission and said they were prepared to face the task of the new electricity dispensation in the state.

To this end, the commission informed that a new electricity company, the Kogi State Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, will soon come on stream and take over the responsibility of power distribution in the state.

KERC also gave its preparedness to collaborate with Light Up Movement in its forthcoming Stakeholders Engagement scheduled for later in the year.
