•••Urges Residents To Be On Lookout For Water Pipe Vandals, Asures Of Constant Water Supply

Kogi state commissioner for water Resources, Engineer Muhammad Danladi Yahaya Farouk,on Sunday held an interactive session with water consumers and stakeholders
to bridge gaps in understanding of the efforts of the state government in solving issues of perennial water supply in some part of the state capital.
Recall that since his appointment as the Honourable commissioner for water resources, Engineer Farouk had been pushing for reforms in the areas of provision of portable water includes, several interactions with stakeholders to bridge the gaps and hear their views as regards his ministry.
Addressing stakeholders in Unguwan TIV in ward A, Farouk assured them of constant water supply to the area,as he frowned on the activities of vandals and scavengers who are vandalising water pipes in the area.
The commissioner emphasised on the community’s non challant attitudes to broken domestic water supply which according to him is leading to colossal wastage of water.
He Said the attitudes also frustrates ongoing work of water distribution from the Reservoir, appealing to the community’s cooperation in repairing their broken pipes, legalizing connection and taking ownership of the facilities to help Govt and Water board serve them better is the main crux of the engagement.
He noted that Over 1.5M liters of water was released on Thursday 12/12/24 and more than 50% was wasted via broken pipes.
Faruq warned those vandalising, stealing and selling the Ministry’s properties to desist from the act before they were made to face the full weight of the law.
The Commissioner reiterated the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo-led administration’s resolve not to treat such acts with kid gloves.
The meeting was attended by the Hakim of Hakimi of Ward ‘A’, Alhaji Dirisu Muhammed, members of water users association and that of Kogi state plumbers association.
