Kogi state Council of ulama’u on Wednesday, felicitated with Christians in the state and the country as at large as they celebrate Christmas.
The council made this know in a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday and made available to ThEANLYSTNG.
The statement urged christians to see the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ beyond the festival.
According to the statement, Christmas celebration is a period of reflection on the essence of christianity and the teachings of Christ.
It therefore charged Christians to embrace, cultivate and adapt to the Christ-like way of life, depicting affection, good neighbourliness, truthfulness, goodness, kindness, devotion, good conduct and other living virtues that would promote peace.
The Muslim body pledges its continuous co-operation with Government, Security Agencies, religious individuals and Organizations in ensuring peace, harmony, security and peaceful co-existence in Kogi State and beyond.
It commended and thanks the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his sustainable support to religious bodies in the State.
The Council pledges it’s continuous co-operation and collaboration with Government, Security Agencies and Religious individuals and organizations in ensuring peace, security and harmony in Kogi State.
The Council reminded both the Christians and Muslims in the state that their harmonious relationship would enhance the realisation of the “building a prosperous state together under the leadership of Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo administration.
