PROFILE OF SHANTALIN LAKWAJA, ALHAJI BALA MUHAMMAD HARUNA

A philanthropist,Teacher and Administrator, Bala Mohammed Haruna, a Scion of the esteemed Late Captain Kolo family, was born into a legacy of service and leadership that has profoundly influenced his life.

Born and raised in late Captain Kolo Compound, Unguwan Rimi Lokoja, in Lokoja Local Government. Haruna had his primary school education at LEA Primary School, Kabawa, Lokoja, where he laid the groundwork for his academic journey.

To further enriched his educational skills, intellectual growth, Bala Haruna subsequently attended Holy Trinity Bishop Crowther Memorial School,the oldest primary school in Northern Nigeria.

As it was mandatory for every Muslim child, recognizing the significance of Islamic education (makarantan Alo), young Bala was enrolled at Mallam Ashiru Makaranta in Kpata-Koto, Lokoja, where he immersed himself in Islamic teachings.

He proceeded to Teachers College, Kabba,in then Kwara state, where he obtained a Teachers Grade II Certificate.

In his quest for education / aspirations for greater academic heights, Haruna gained admission into College of Advanced Studies ,Zungeru in Niger state,where he bagged IJMB, .

He later proceeded to the prestigious Ahamadu Bello University Zaria(ABU) where he graduated in Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration, specializing in Banking and Finance.

Driven by intellectual curiosity, he continued his academic pursuits at Delta State University, Abraka, where he obtained both a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s degree in Energy and Petroleum Economics in 2000.

His professional career commenced at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, where he gained valuable experience. However, his true calling emerged when he joined the Nigeria National Petroleum Company in 1991. Over the years, he ascended the corporate ladder to attain a managerial position before retiring in 2022. His diverse professional experience encompasses key areas such as Human Resources, Facility Management, Project Management, Business Planning and Strategies, Contract Administration, Performance Management, and Concept Development.

He is honored to be a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators. Furthermore, he is a proud member of several professional bodies, including the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).

Alhaji Bala Muhammed Haruna was a former senior staff of defunct NNPC,a Philanthropist with great zeal for development of human capital in his community by impacting knowledge.

He is honored to be a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators. Furthermore, he is a proud member of several professional bodies, including the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM). Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is passionate about entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and mentorship.

Shantalin Lakwaja strengths lies in his ability to mentor, train and develop mind of young and vibrant youths across Lokoja Traditional Emirate Council in particular and kogi state in general through his Face Fact Initiatives cum Concerned empowerment programs.Libration Youth.

His passion in leading and inspiring young people made His Royal Highness the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi 1V, to conferred on him the traditional title of “SHANTALI OF LOKOJA”.

Shatalin of Lokoja, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Haruna is equally committed to promoting peace, supporting youth development, and contributing to community growth, both locally and internationally. He is married with children.
